ESMS FFA members recently attended the 96th Georgia FFA Convention in Macon.Some highlights from the convention include:
Bo Golden was named the State Middle School Record Book Winner in the area of Crop Production.
Madalyn Nipper was named Area V Middle School Record Book winner in the area of Ag Sales & Marketing.
Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team completed in the State LDE
Kaitlyn Merrill & Kazmir Lester completed the Georgia Green Industry Association (GGIA) certification test
ESMS FFA members participated in Leadership Breakout Sessions held by former Georgia and Oregon State FFA Officers
8 ESMS FFA members served on the Courtesy Corp
Members also donated can tabs they have been collecting all year to the Ronald McDonald House of Macon


Kona Ice will be available to purchase for those students who are able to attend the PBIS event on Wednesday, May 15th. Students will need to bring cash to purchase a Kona Ice during the event. See flyer for prices.

7th graders in Healthcare Science finished their unit on Crime Scene Investigation by creating their own crime scenes. The students created presentations to tell their story in an Investigator's perspective that featured evidence, suspect, motive, and storyline. Along with their presentations and models, the students created crime scene sketches and an autopsy report!

Congratulations ESMS FFA member Katie McClendon for being elected to serve Southwest Georgia on the Area V FFA Officer Team as the Junior Representative/Chaplain.


Thank you Mr. Greg Tucker for bringing your horse Jack to visit with the ESMS Ag classes. Mr. Tucker spoke to Ag students about horse care and safety. We always appreciate Mr. Tucker's willingness to come back to ESMS and speak to our ag classes!


Today, the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence awarded Jennifer Braziel, Eve Rogers, and Laura Holland grants for their classrooms and programs. We are thankful for the efforts of our teachers and for the TCFEE in going above and beyond to help our teachers to help the students of Tift County.

Eighth Street Middle School is currently accepting nominations for Local School Governance Team Parent Members. Interested candidates must be the parent/guardian of a student at Eighth Street Middle School during the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates must pick up a copy of the LSGT Code of Ethics and the LSGT Conflicts of Interest Policy in advance of the elections. After verifying eligibility and signing the assurances document, you may then be listed on the ballot. Nominations must be received by 3:30 on May 17. Voting for parent representatives will take place on Monday, May 20 From 8:00 - 4:00, and must be done in person. All parents of current ESMS students are eligible to vote in the election.

Students created their own food truck businesses in Dr. Wise's Careers Class, teaching them skills in marketing, creativity, hospitality and business! They competed against one another to see who created the most sought after food truck. Teachers and fellow classmates voted.

CTAE Careers welcomed State Trooper Damien Serrata Post 12 for coming and talking with our students about his career.

ESMS Honors Night will be tonight in the TCHS Gym. Students should arrive before 5:30 to find their seats. There will be increased traffic at the high school tonight due to the baseball game. See the graphic for more info!
