Principal's Message

Welcome to Eighth Street Middle School!

If you have chosen Tift County Schools, let there be no doubt you have made a high quality decision.  Eighth Street Middle School, like most other middle schools, provides the opportunity for students to hone skills, develop both physically and academically, explore a variety of paths to success, and realize dreams.  What is unique about Eighth Street Middle is the incredibly diverse opportunities for students to learn and display skills and talents on our campus.  This range of opportunities is a source of pride and excitement for all of us, and the encouragement and knowledge acquired working with teachers, coaches, sponsors, and peers benefits our students for a lifetime.  I firmly believe that our classes and programs prepare students for the real world in ways no other environment can.

Your ongoing support is appreciated and needed to continue Eighth Street Excellence, and to ensure that Eighth Street Middle’s curricular and extracurricular programs always remain a positive influence in the lives of our students. We have challenges and obstacles related to the current pandemic, but we are anxious to return to offering a variety of opportunities for parents and members of the community to get involved in the great things happening on our campus.  Whether it be volunteering in Athletic Programs, one of our 11 Career & Technical and Fine & Performing Arts Programs, one of our Clubs or Organizations, or working directly with one of our 65 teachers, there is a place for you to make a difference in the life of one or many of the future leaders attending ESMS.

If you are a returning Blue Devil or new to our school, we are so glad that you have joined us.  Eighth Street Middle School is an awesome opportunity waiting for you to choose to be great.   If you have questions, please contact us for more information so we can connect you with a new adventure learning and growing.  Join us in “Relentlessly Pursuing a Culture of Excellence”.  You won’t regret it.

Best Regards,

Paul Nelson, Principal
